When we are about to purchase a laminate floor we need to know how to calculate how many square meters of floor we will need. For that, we need to calculate how many meters our space has and therefore, the number of FAUS floating floorboard boxes we should acquire.
Calculation of square meters of the room
The first thing is to know how to calculate the square meters of laminate flooring I need so that we can cover the entire room. In order to know this figure, we propose several very simple formulas that you can apply depending on the area to be coated. If you want to know how to calculate it for coatings, click here.
If the surface to be covered is simple (square or rectangle) the formula is very simple. Measure the length and width of the room, multiply the values obtained and the result is the amount of square meters to be covered.
Width x Height = Total Area
For rooms with complex shapes, to calculate the square footage of laminate flooring, they should be broken down into regular areas, such as squares or rectangles. Then calculate the areas of these figures separately and add them up. The result will correspond to the total area of the space where the laminate flooring will be laid.
As a recommendation, you should always keep in mind to buy 10% more meters of laminate flooring than you need, as you will have some waste during the installation process.
FAUS floor box calculation
Once you have calculated the square meters of laminate flooring, you need to check the plank size of the model you have chosen. In FAUS we have different widths and lengths of slats depending on the collection, which will directly affect the number of boxes to be purchased for the square meters of the room.
Once we have all this information, we only have to divide the total square meters of the room by the square meters included in each box, thus obtaining the number of boxes needed for your project.
