Laminate flooring may suffer some damage due to wear and tear, accidents during use or possible installation errors. Therefore, it is essential to know how we can change a plank to keep our floor in perfect condition.

To replace a damaged plank, start by placing a tape around it, so that the parts of the floor that touch the plank are protected from any impact. Next, the lines must be marked where the plank of wood that we want to change is to be cut, in this way, it is marked with triangles at the ends, which converge in the middle of the plank, splitting it in half. These lines will serve as a guide to cut the slat into several parts and make it easier to extract them. After cutting it into several parts, with a chisel and a mallet or hammer, we can lightly tap the pieces and remove them easily.

Once we have removed the damaged plank, we must take a new plank and cut the tongue-and-groove joint to place it in the gap we have left free. Afterwards, we apply glue or special glue, carefully, around the slat that we are going to place. After installing the new slat, we can tap it lightly with a mallet and a protector to ensure that it is properly installed, without damaging it. Finally, we remove the protective tape and let a weight rest on the slat for 48 hours. Once this time has elapsed, the new slat can be stepped on again in the normal way.

Thanks to the technology that FAUS uses in its laminate flooring, we can change a single damaged or worn plank without this being noticeable in the change of color, unlike parquet. Our laminate floors, in addition to having elegant and modern designs, resist any type of wear and tear and maintain homogeneity over time.
